Mayhem Announce Team Captains

October 18, 2018 - SPHL (SPHL)
Macon Mayhem News Release

MACON, GA - The Mayhem have named John Siemer, Stathis Soumelidis, and Jake Trask as the team's Alternate Captains at the onset of the 2018-19 season, Head Coach Leo Thomas announced today.

All three of the newly appointed leaders have played for the Mayhem in previous years, combining for a total of 380 games played in a Mayhem uniform between them (Siemer - 117, Soumelidis - 105, Trask - 158). Their experience playing in Macon, as well as their character and their on-ice abilities, are fitting qualities of players expected to lead the team throughout the season. Furthermore, as players who have seen almost all there is to see with the Mayhem, Coach Thomas is certain that the things they've endured over the years will increase their capacities as leaders.

"We lost a lot of our leaders that have been here the last few years," Thomas said. "John, Stathis and Jake have been here for all the highs and the lows. I know these three guys will lead by example and I'm fully confident in their leadership."

Siemer has entertained Mayhem fans for the past two years with his agility, deft hands and playmaking ability. Soumelidis, who has played in Macon for roughly the same amount of time, has been a strong, physical presence who had a breakout campaign last year. Finally, Trask came second in the entire SPHL in scoring last season with 69 points (27 G, 42 A) in 54 games played, and has been with the organization since the inaugural season in 2015-16.

The Mayhem kick off their fourth season on Friday, October 19th against the Pensacola Ice Flyers, and follow with their second game on October 20th against the Fayetteville Marksmen. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 pm at the Macon Centreplex. Doors will open at 6:15 pm for season ticket holders and 6:30 pm for the general public. Single-game tickets are available for purchase via Ticketmaster or by visiting the Macon Centreplex Box Office at 200 Coliseum Drive.
