Matt Spring Added to Eastern League All-Star Roster

Portland, Maine - Portland Sea Dogs' catcher Matt Spring has been added to the 2013 Eastern League All-Star roster. The Eastern League in conjunction with the New Britain Rock Cats made the announcement Wednesday afternoon. The All-Star Game will be played on Wednesday, July 10th at New Britain Stadium in Connecticut; home of the New Britain Rock Cats.

Spring will join teammates Michael Almanzar (INF), Drake Britton (LHP), Anthony Ranaudo (RHP), and Christian Vazquez (C) at the midsummer classic.

Spring, 28, has appeared in 28 games for the Sea Dogs this season hitting .262 (27-for-103) with six home runs and 25 RBI. On May 18, Spring hit a walk-off grand slam to give the Sea Dogs a 10-7 win over the Binghamton Mets and finished with a career-high 6 RBI. Spring was the Sea Dogs' 2012 Citizen of the Year. This is his first professional All-Star selection in nine Minor League seasons.
