Matt Cameron Signs Tender in Return to Titans
The New Jersey Titans are excited to announce that Matt Cameron has signed a tender agreement and will return to the team for the 2019-20 season.
Cameron, an 18-year-old forward from Berwyn, Penn., played for the Titans in the 2017-18 season and recorded 38 points (22g, 16a) in 56 games. This season he played in the USHL for the Sioux Falls Stampede and Waterloo Black Hawks where he notched five goals and 11 assists in 55 games. When talking about the tender, Cameron expressed his joy in returning to the Titans organization.
"I'm really excited to return to the Titans. I love playing here and I couldn't be happier to play for Craig (Doremus) and Bobby (DiRico). The New Jersey Titans are a first class organization and I can't wait to put on the Titans jersey again," Cameron said.
Head coach Craig Doremus said Cameron kept in contact with the team throughout the 2018-19 season while he was playing in the USHL. He spoke about the dedication Cameron has to the program and what it means for him to make his return to Middletown.
"Never mind what Matty will bring on the ice which is a ton, it's the fact he is a Titan through and through. He remained close with our organization all year and he brings a passion for the program," Doremus said. "On the ice, Matty comes back to us with two years of junior experience including a monster rookie season. We expect Matt to play a big role in all situations and be a leader for us."
Playing in his first junior season as a 17-year-old, Cameron led the Titans with 22 goals while finishing fifth in points. Now with a season of Tier I junior hockey under his belt, Cameron said he expects to return to the Titans as a much better player than his first tenure with the team.
"I think playing in the USHL last year really helped me improve my speed and my decision making skills. The two biggest things we want to accomplish this year as a team are to win the East division but more importantly win the Robertson Cup."
The Titans are happy to welcome Matt and his family back to the organization for the 2019-20 season.
