Marshals Win Home Opener

The Marshals won their home opener and first game ever at Hara Arena 31-19 over the Columbia Stingers to improve to 2-0 on this young 2007 campaign.
The Marshals scored the first 17 points of the game and the Stingers never got closer than twelve points.
The Marshals opened the scoring in the first quarter on a two yard touchdown run by Maurice Douse. Later in the first half Antonio Davis connected with Anthony Tyus on a touchdown pass to extend the Marshals lead to 14-0. The teams then exchanged field goals. The halftime score was 17-3.
The Marshals scored the first fourteen points of the second half as Richard Hall scored on a 3 yard run and Antonio Davis threw his second touchdown of the game, this time connecting with Jonathan Cain.
The Stingers scored a couple of touchdowns in the fourth quarter with successful two point conversions to finish out the scoring but the outcome was never in doubt.
The Marshals defense set the tone for the game from the start. Peni Faitele and Linebacker Charles Boyd led the defense which recovered three fumbles and stymied the Stingers offense throughout the game, including holding the Stingers to a total of three points for more than three quarters.
The Marshals hit the road for their first division game on Saturday March 31, 2007 at 7pm against the Greensboro Revolution. The game will be broadcast by the Ohio School of Broadcasting live. To listen to the game got to www.beonair.com then go to the 80s link or the Marshals link.
