Makenzy Doniak Returns to North Carolina Courage After Loan with Adelaide United FC

February 8, 2018 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) - North Carolina Courage News Release

Cary, NC (Feb. 8, 2018)- North Carolina Courage midfielder Makenzy Doniak has returned from loan with Adelaide United FC of the Westfield W-League in Australia and will continue with the NC Courage for the 2018 NWSL Season.

After renewing her contract with the NC Courage following the team's highly successful 2017 season, Doniak took her talents to Adelaide United in October. She thrived as a forward for Adelaide, scoring seven goals for the Australian side in their 2017-2018 campaign. Her brightest moment came in November when the California native scored a hat trick against Perth Glory in Week 3 of the W-League season. Doniak was a standout on the team as she started in all 12 games for a total 1,058 minutes.

"I think the best thing about going to Australia is getting to play competitive games in the offseason," said Doniak. "It was great to get my touches on the ball day in and day out. For me personally, I played more of an attacking role on Adelaide United, so I'm looking forward to bringing that mindset to this team and hopefully impact the game more. I had a great time in Australia, but now I'm ready to start the 2018 season with the Courage."

Last season, Doniak played in 21 games for the NC Courage, totaling 1,214 minutes and three assists for the NWSL Shield Winners. 2018 will mark her third professional season after winning the NWSL Championship with the Western New York Flash in 2016.

Doniak and the NC Courage return to Sahlen's Stadium at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. this spring. Season Tickets and Flex Plans are on sale now, and fans can secure 2018 Season Tickets for $50 down.
