Mainers Force Game Three With Navs

Sanford, ME - The Sanford Mainers utilized a complete game performance from starter Tommy Lawrence on their way to a 6-0 victory Thursday in Sanford. The win evens the best-of-three series at one game apiece, with the decisive third game scheduled for Friday.

Sanford scored the first run of the game early, bringing one across in the first inning. Brett Mollenhauer walked and advanced to second on a wild pitch. With two outs Mike Montville doubled down the line in right to score Mollenhauer and make it 1-0 Mainers.

The Mainers added to their lead in the second. Pat Devlin walked and was retired at second on a fielder's choice that allowed Tim Panetta to reach first safely. Ryan Coppinger walked before Marlon Calbi singled to score Panetta and put Coppinger on third. Mollenhauer followed with a single of his own to score Coppinger and make it 3-0 Sanford.

In the third the lead grew once more. Montville singled and advanced to second on a Jack Lupo sacrifice bunt. Devlin grounded out to second to move Montville up to third before Panetta singled to score him and push the Mainers lead to 4-0.

In the sixth two more came across for Sanford. Panetta and Coppinger led off the inning with singles and moved up to second and third on a Calbi sacrifice bunt. Mollenhauer singled to score both runners and make the score 6-0 Sanford, which would be the final.
