MacKay named ECHL Merchandiser of the Year

ESTERO, FL - The Florida Everblades are proud to announce that for the second straight year Director of Merchandise Bill MacKay is the recipient of the ECHL Merchandiser of the Year Award. It was announced by the league today.
MacKay has been director of merchandise for the Everblades since the team's inception in 1998 and becomes the first two-time winner of the award. In addition to his position with the Everblades, Bill is also responsible for coordinating merchandise sales for all non-hockey events at Germain Arena as well as pro shop sales of hockey and figure skating products.
"Bill has done such an excellent job, and has been such an integral part of our organization over the past eight years," Everblades President & General Manager Craig Brush said. "For him to be recognized by the league for two straight years shows the dedication he brings to his job and this organization."
MacKay, a University of Richmond graduate, was director of Florida Operations for the Boston Red Sox from 1990-96 and managed an international project at the 1996 Summer Olympics prior to joining the Everblades organization.
A two-time recipient of baseball executive of the year awards, he began his career with the Atlanta Braves in 1980 and has also worked for both the New York Yankees and in Oakland where he was on the staff when the A's won the World Series in 1989.
