Clinton LumberKings News Release
Davenport, IA - The Clinton LumberKings ran their losing streak in Davenport to five games with a 4-2 loss to the Quad Cities River Bandits on Thursday night at Modern Woodmen Park. Scott Boches set a professional career high for inning pitched, seven, for the LumberKings (19-20, 58-51) but was hung with the loss.
The River Bandits (21-18, 61-48) took an early lead in the third inning and held on with strong pitching from their starter Chad Donato and reliever Bryan Abreu. Miguelangel Sierra singled off Boches (2-4) to open the third and scored on a three base throwing error from catcher Juan Camacho on a failed pickoff attempt that went down the right field line.
In the bottom of the fourth, Quad Cites broke out for three runs to pull away from the LumberKings. Four hits in the inning lead to three runs with the final two runs in the inning chased home with two out in the frame.
The LumberKings only runs of the night came across in the top of the sixth inning. Billy Cooke leadoff with a double to right center and scored three batters later on a Dimas Ojeda RBI single to left. Singles by Eugene Helder and Onil Pena plated the second run of the inning but Donato (1-0) allowed no more as he picked up his first win of the year.
Abreu was the only River Bandits pitcher to be used out of the bullpen and earned his third save of the season for three shutout innings of relief.
Clinton has now lost all five of their games played in Quad Cities this season.
