Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

MUSKEGON, MI- The United States Hockey League (USHL) announced its intention to play its 2020-21 season beginning in the fall. USHL Commissioner Tom Garrity made the announcement following the USHL Board of Governor's zoom meeting on Friday.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks are working diligently to provide a safe and positive environment for the 2020-21 season. Plans for social distancing and several other safety factors are being put into place which we know will encourage fans and the community to help bring a sense of normalcy back to Muskegon.

"We will follow the Governor's lead in regard to the number of people allowed into the arena, but we are committed to assuming a leadership role in re-energizing our community" said Jacks' President Mike McCall. "There are going to be questions that need to be addressed, and we will be prepared to act on them as needed."

The Lumberjacks are preparing for its Team Camp in August, with a pre-season schedule set for September, as long as Governor Whitmer provides that opportunity and it is safe for players, fans and staff members.

The team for 2020-21 is comprised of several returning players and Head Coach Mike Hamilton is fired up about this year's prospects; "The staff has come together and assembled a high-caliber group of athletes, and we are looking forward to seeing the hours of preparation molded into success for the 2020-21 season."

McCall finished with this, "We are working hand-in-hand with the City of Muskegon and the State of Michigan to comply with and supersede our fans' expectations and safety, and I can assure you of one thing...we will come back stronger than ever!"
