Lucas Herrmann Announces Commitment to University of New Hampshire

April 9, 2019 - United States Hockey League (USHL) - Madison Capitols News Release

Middleton, WI - On Monday, Lucas Herrmann made his college commitment to play his next four years at the University of New Hampshire as a Wildcat. The decision comes following a campus tour this past Sunday.

"I've been talking with UNH for a little while, and finally took a tour this week," says Herrmann. "It felt just like I was home. The players and coaches were extremely nice, and the campus is gorgeous. I'm very excited for this next chapter.

Herrmann, the native of Lancaster, New York, is only in his second season of junior hockey after splitting last season between Odessa and Topeka in the North American Hockey League.

It took Herrmann 15 games to rack up his first points this season, and eight more games after that to score his first goal. Since that point, Herrmann has been one of the top producers for the Capitols, posting 13 total goals and 8 more assists in 51 games this season.

"We drafted Lucas knowing he could do big things for us, and when he finally broke through, the flood gates opened," said head coach Garrett Suter. "Not only has he been producing on the ice, but off as well. When we traded [Josh] Boyer at the deadline, Lucas stepped up and filled the whole as an alternate captain."

Lucas will join defenseman Kalle Eriksson as Wildcats next season at UNH. Herrmann and the Capitols will return to action this Friday in Green Bay before the season finale this Saturday at Bob Suter's Capitol Ice Arena.
