Long Island Nets Defeat Erie BayHawks on Devin Cannady's Career Night

LONG ISLAND - The Long Island Nets (6-11), the NBA G League affiliate of the Brooklyn Nets, beat the Erie BayHawks (5-13) 109-95 tonight at NYCB LIVE, home of the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Long Island guard Devin Cannady led the way for the Nets with a career-high 33 points on 13-of-22 shooting from the field and 6-of-13 shooting from 3-point range to go along with eight rebounds and three assists in 30 minutes of action.
Long Island forward Ash Yacoubou also continued his strong play since being inserted into the starting lineup, finishing the contest with 14 points on 5-of-12 shooting from the field and 4-of-7 shooting from 3-point range to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and three steals in 35 minutes of play.
Erie guard Josh Gray had a strong performance for the BayHawks, finishing the game with 23 points including 3-of-5 from 3-point range with four rebounds, four assists and a block in 33 minutes of play. Erie forward Zylan Cheatham also had a strong game for the Bayhawks, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists in 22 minutes of action.
Long Island jumped out to a 14-7 lead over the first 6:33 of the opening quarter. The Nets would continue their strong play over the remainder of the first, heading into the second quarter up 23-15.
Erie was able to regroup in the second quarter and get within six points of Long Island with 2:18 remaining. The Nets, however, would finish the quarter strong, going into the half up 48-37.
Long Island came out hot to start the third quarter, outscoring Erie 15-9 over the first 4:36 of the quarter to take a 17-point lead. The Nets continued their strong play over the remainder of the third, heading into the final quarter with a commanding 83-63 lead.
Erie put up a strong effort in the fourth, outscoring the Nets 32-26 before ultimately falling short as the Nets secured the victory by the final score of 109-95.
The Nets will travel to Canton to take on the Charge on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 5 p.m. ET, while the BayHawks will travel to Westchester to take on the Knicks next on Saturday, Dec. 28, at 7 p.m. ET.
