Rockford Lightning News Release
Rockford, IL. It was during his coaching trip through China that Lightning Head Coach Chris Daleo saw Jerrick Oliver play. The McNeese State alum was on Daleo's traveling team of college stand-outs. Coach Daleo was so impressed, he drafted Oliver in the 2004 CBA College Draft in the sixth round. (Pending league approval) Jerrick will suit up for the Lightning Vet's Camp.
The Riverdale, Georgia native averaged double-figures for McNeese, and he led the team in rebounds. Oliver was teammates with another potential Lightning player this season, Raynell Brewer. He had a career high game last season against Mississippi St., pulling down 13 rebounds. "He's a hard worker," says Coach Daleo, "he'll be competing for the two and three positions."
The Bolts are holding one more free agent camp before the start of the season. The last chance for future players to catch Coach Daleo's eye will be on October 31st in South Bend, IN. The open player tryout will be conducted at Martin Luther King Center located at 1522 West Linden Ave. South Bend, IN. 46628. The tryouts will be from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm local time with registration to begin at 8:30 am. The cost of the tryouts is $100.00 for pre-registered players and $125.00 for on-site registration. The camp is open to only 40 players. Do not be Late. Be in Shape.
