Liberty Forward Michaela Onyenwere Joins Renowned Chef Marcus Samuelsson on New Episode of YES App's Exclusive Home Plate Show

New York Liberty forward Michaela Onyenwere, the 2021 Associated Press Rookie of the Year, visits a Nigerian restaurant in Brooklyn with award-winning chef, entrepreneur, author and food activist Marcus Samuelsson on the latest episode of Home Plate, the new original programming series on the YES App, the YES Network's official app.

In this installment of Home Plate, Onyenwere, whose parents hail from Nigeria, and Samuelsson visit Buka restaurant in Brooklyn, which specializes in Nigerian cuisine. While there, she discusses with Samuelsson and Buka owner/chef Lookman Afolayan her longing for home-cooked Nigerian meals and her passion for Nigerian culture. Onyenwere also talks about fashion and her own line of clothing.

Hosted by Samuelsson, Home Plate features his teaming up with players from the New Yankees, Brooklyn Nets, New York Liberty and New York City FC, as well as with celebrities. Together, they visit New York City restaurants specializing in food from the guests' respective cultures and family heritages. The series highlights the diverse cultures and different foods represented in New York City restaurants, with Samuelsson and his guests discussing the important role that food has played in their lives.
