Boston's first pick (2nd round) from the 2002 draft enters the 2006 season as the No. 2 prospect in the organization, according to Baseball America behind only third baseman Andy Marte, who was acquired from the Braves at the Winter Meetings and subsequently dealt to Cleveland in the January deal for Coco Crisp, David Riske and Josh Bard...Lester was the organization's No. 4 prospect heading into 2005.
In 4 minor league seasons, Lester has struck out 333 in 346.1 innings, an average of 8.7 K's per 9 innings...over the last 2 years, has fanned 261 in 239.2 innings, good for an average of 9.8 punchouts per 9 innings.
Lester has allowed only 303 hits and 19 home runs in his 346.1 professional innings, an average of only 7.9 hits per 9 innings and one long ball every 18 innings-plus...opponents have hit .240 (303-for-1265) against Lester over the last 4 years.
