Texas Legends News Release
FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends will open the 2022 regular season at home with a night to remember, partnering with UnitedHealthcare to celebrate Heroes for Children.
January 8th the Legends will take on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers for the third time this season while wearing custom jerseys designed to represent Heroes for Children and their partnership with UnitedHealthcare.
Heroes for Children provides financial and social support to families of children battling cancer. Since 2004, the organization has provided more than $6.6 million in assistance to over 6,800 Texas families. Through programming and events, Heroes for Children is working to ensure that no family takes on cancer alone.
UnitedHealthcare has come alongside Heroes for Children in this fight through both financial and resource contributions. UHC serves millions of clients, working to make the health system work better for their members and communities. With personalized plans, affordable packaging, and innovative care options, UHC is making healthier happen for those they serve.
"UHC walks their talk," said Legends President Malcolm Farmer. "They live their purpose of making healthier communities and their partnership with Heroes for Children is one of many examples of that. Not only do they focus on treatment but on the support for the families of these children, providing mental health resources and programming to ease the burden. We are extremely proud to partner with these two organizations and celebrate their hard work."
Families from Heroes for Children will enjoy a VIP night at the game, including a pre-game pizza party courtesy of UHC.
This meeting will be the first of the regular season for both teams. The previous series in the Showcase Cup was split 1-1 in Edinburg. Each team starts with a clean record, battling for a spot in the 2022 NBA G League Playoffs.
