Missoula PaddleHeads News Release

MISSOULA, MONT - The Missoula Osprey (16-16) scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth to pull within a run, but fell short with their comeback bid vs. the Ogden Raptors (22-10) in a 9-8 defeat Wednesday night at Ogren Park Allegiance Field.

Ogden's offense started with a run in the first inning as Chris Roller and Daniel Robinson began the game with walks against Osprey starter Wilfry Cruz. An Osprey error drove home the first run of the game to give Ogden a 1-0 lead. In the second inning, Roller notched an RBI single to score Jeremy Arocho and give the Raptors a 2-0 lead.

However, Missoula quickly erased the deficit by scoring two runs in the second, courtesy of a two-RBI single from Jesus Munoz to tie the game 2-2 after two. The Osprey grabbed their first lead of the game when Zac Almond drove a single to right, and Eddie Hernandez scored on an error to push Missoula ahead 3-2. Ogden bounced back to tie the game in the fourth on a solo home run off the bat of Tre Todd.

In the fifth, the Raptors regained the lead off Osprey reliever Erin Baldwin (1-1) as Ronny Brito and Matt Cogan hit back-to-back homers to lift Ogden to a 5-3 advantage. Ogden plated three more runs in the sixth to push the lead to 8-3. Missoula added a run in the sixth when Joe Robbins drove his second home run of the season to left. Each team scored a run in the seventh, setting up a 9-6 score heading into the eighth.

In his first career start, Daniel Wasinger drove a double to left with one out to spark the Osprey rally. He scored on a wild pitch with Hernandez at the plate. Hernandez then singled for his fifth hit of the night, and Buddy Kennedy recorded a single to put two men on. Almond then drove a two-RBI single to right, pulling Missoula within a run of Ogden.

Missoula put two men on base in the bottom of the ninth, but left the tying run on third and the winning run at first.

Hernandez finished with the second five-hit game of his career, finishing 5-5 with four singles and a double. Almond recorded three hits and two RBIs on the night, while the entire Osprey offense compiled 17 hits, the second most in a game this season.

Kevin Malisheski (1-1) earned the win for the Raptors after tossing five and two-third innings.

Missoula hosts Ogden Thursday from Ogren Park Allegiance Field at 7:05 pm. The Selway Armory Pregame Show begins at 6:45 p.m. on ESPN 102.9 and the MiLB First Pitch App.
