Las Vegas Signs Russian National Team Forward/Center Raisa Musina to Training Camp Contract

February 20, 2020 - Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) - Las Vegas Aces News Release

Las Vegas, NV - Las Vegas Aces General Manager Dan Padover announced today that the Aces signed Russian National Team forward/center Raisa Musina (RAY-zuh moo-SEE-nuh) to a 2020 training camp contract.

The 21-year-old Musina, who turns 22 on March 31, has played for UMMC, the top women's basketball team in Russia, since 2017. The UMMC roster is frequently stacked with WNBA talent, which this year includes Brittney Griner (Phoenix), Breanna Stewart (Seattle), Courtney Vandersloot (Chicago) and Emma Meesseman (Washington).

Musina is one of six members of the team averaging in double figures this season in Russian League play at 10.2 points per game. She also ranks fourth on the team in rebounding (7.0 rpg), while handing out 2.5 assists, and picking up 1.5 steals per game.

In addition, the Moscow native plays for the Russian National Team, and has a 33-point performance against the United States in the U19 World Cup title game to her credit.

Musina's WNBA journey began in 2018 when she was selected in the second round (number 21 overall) by the Phoenix Mercury. However, she was unable to secure a visa in time to come to training camp, and was waived just prior to the start of the regular season.

The Las Vegas Aces, led by a trio of All-Stars- Liz Cambage, Kayla McBride, and A'ja Wilson- and WNBA Sixth Women of the Year Dearica Hamby, tip off their third season of WNBA competition at Mandalay Bay Events Center on May 17, 2020.
