Lancers Take Down Force 6-3 in Game 2

Ralston, NE - Omaha, and Fargo faced off for game 2 of the second round of the Clark Cup Playoffs on Sunday evening. The Lancers trail the Force who took game 1 on Saturday winning 2-1. Vinnie Purpura got the nod to play between the pipes for his first career start in a USHL playoff game.

Early in the first period, Grant Hebert got the Force their first goal beating Vinnie Purpura. Fargo kept the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.

The Lancers got to work in the second period. Jack Randl started the scoring for Omaha as he beat Strauss Mann to the far right post. Fargo answered back with a goal seconds later from Sammy Steele.Soon after, the Lancers poured on the goals. Brendan Furry, Ryan Savage, and Cole Gallant all scored to give the Omaha a 4-2 lead heading into the second intermission.

Omaha stayed on the attack in the third, when Brendan Furry got his second of the night. Mann was then pulled and replaced by Ryan Bischel. On the power play, Ty Farmer took a slapshot from the point to score on Purpura. Nearing the end of the third period and on the powerplay, Cole Gallant got his second goal of the night. The Lancers topped the Force 6-3.

Omaha ties up the series with Fargo and will travel to Scheels Arena for games 3 and 4 on Tuesday and Wednesday. If game 5 becomes necessary it will be played Friday, April 27th at Ralston Arena (7:05 PM).

Purpura stopped 17 of the 20 shots he faced.
