Lancers Sink Buccaneers, 4-1

RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers defeated the Des Moines Buccaneers by a final score of 4-1 on Saturday night. In his first start in net, Grant Riley earned his first win as a Lancer.

The Lancers opened up the first period scoring on their first shot on net. Kyle Bettens (2:55) shot the puck low to the left-side of Derek Mullahy for a 1-0 lead. The Lancers continued on the attack when Nikita Tarasevich (10:35) earning his first career USHL goal and getting the Lancers ahead 2-0. Minutes later, Liam Devlin (12:46) netted the puck past Mullahy to give the Lancers a 3-0 lead. Des Moines pulled Mullahy and called on Josh Langford.

In the second period, and on the power play, Jack Jensen (3:25) netted his fourth goal of the season. The Lancers kept the 4-0 lead going into the second intermission.

In the third period, Des Moines netted their lone goal of the night for a final score of 4-1. Grant Riley stopped 16 of the 17 Buccaneer shots he faced in the game.

The Lancers and Buccaneers are back in action Sunday, December 27th at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa. Puck drop is at 3:00 PM. All the action is on MixLR and HockeyTV.
