Omaha Lancers News Release
RALSTON, NE - The Omaha Lancers have announced a trade deal with the Sioux City Musketeers this morning.
In the deal, the Lancers traded Defenseman John Opilka, Forward Bennett Schimek, a 2020 Phase 2 1st Round Pick, a 2020 Phase 2 4th Round Pick, and a 2021 Phase 2 2nd Round Pick in exchange for Defenseman Nolan Krenzen and a 2020 Phase 2 5th Round Draft Pick.
Krenzen (2001) has played in 92 USHL games. In his two years in the league, Krezen has recorded 28 points. This season the defender has totaled 17 points (4g, 13a) in 31 games. Krenzen is committed to playing NCAA hockey at the University of Nebraska-Omaha. The Duluth, MN native was part of the USA squad at the 2019 WJAC in Dawson Creek, BC where he played alongside Christian Berger and for Head Coach David Wilkie. Krenzen will be wearing number 3 on the ice and will be making his Lancer debut this weekend.
"As this season's team has improved and evolved, we felt it was important to add one more established veteran player on the backend," Head Coach and General Manager David Wilkie said. "We are extremely fortunate to be able to add a player of this caliber. Nolan is an outstanding defender and he will fit in very nicely with our group for the push down the stretch."
Opilka (2002), who is in his first year in the USHL, appeared in 18 games this season. The Effingham, IL native recorded 1 assist on the season. Opilka is committed to playing division one hockey at St. Cloud State University. Schimek (2003) appeared in 3 games this season for the Lancers. He currently attends Gentry Academy. Schimek is committed to Providence College.
The Lancers return to the ice tonight to battle the Lincoln Stars at the Ice Box. Puck drop is at 7:05 PM with all of the action on KOIL 1290 AM and HockeyTV.
