Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, Calif. - Rancho Cucamonga scored three in the second inning and Lancaster could not catch up Thursday night in a 4-2 loss at The Hangar. The JetHawks have failed to win each of their last six series.

Rancho Cucamonga (29-31) went in front, 3-0, on a Logan Landon home run in the second inning. That was all the damage done against Rico Garcia (5-7), who took a tough-luck loss.

Garcia pitched seven innings, giving up three runs on five hits. He struck out eight Quakes and walked just one. He has lost in each of his last two starts despite striking out 17 in 13 innings.

Lancaster (28-32) got on the board in the third inning. Colton Welker homered for a second-straight game, sending his seventh home run over the fence in right field. Welker went 3-for-4 and was a triple shy of the cycle Thursday.

The JetHawks scored an unearned run in the fifth to make it a one-run game, but they were not able to tie it up. Lancaster went 3-for-29 with runners in scoring position over three games versus Rancho at The Hangar.

Landon added an RBI triple for the Quakes in the top of the eighth, and Nolan Long struck out the side in the ninth for the save. Starter Dean Kremer (5-2) allowed nine hits, but allowed just two runs (one earned) in five innings.

With ten games remaining in the First Half, Lancaster is two games back of first-place Lake Elsinore in the standings. Six of the team's 10 games heading into the All-Star Break are against the Storm.

After six in a row against Rancho Cucamonga, the JetHawks welcome Lake Elsinore to The Hangar for a three-game series starting Friday night. Lefty Ty Culbreth (1-3) is set to start the opener for Lancaster against Reggie Lawson (4-2). First pitch is at 6:35 pm.
