Vermont Rallies Late To Topple Aberdeen, 7-5

The Vermont scored four runs on three hits in the eighth inning to secure a series win against the Aberdeen. Ryan Huck's RBI double and Jaycob Brugman's two-RBI triple were the decisive blows in the Lake Monster's big inning. Vermont began their comeback in the seventh when Michael Soto connected for a solo home run to lead off the inning. The IronBirds put up a four-spot of their own in the fifth, pounding out five of the team's 14 total hits on the night, to build a 5-2 lead. After loading the bases with three consecutive singles and a Sam Kimmel sacrifice fly, Jonathan Schoop lined a two-RBI double to give the IronBirds the lead. Trey Mancini followed with another double to top of the big inning.

Johnson Makes Aberdeen Debut

A night after Jonathan Schoop made his IronBirds debut on a rehab assignment. Steve Johnson did the same, continuing his rehab of a strained left oblique. Johnson got the start and pitched 2.1 innings, giving up two runs, including a solo home run to Mitchell Marincov. He struck out four in his IronBirds debut

On The Road Again...

Aberdeen head out for a two city, four game road trip after tonight's contest. The IronBirds will get a chance to make up some ground in the standings when they take on the first place Hudson Valley Renegades. Following two games there, the 'Birds travel to Staten Island for two more games with the Yankees.

On the mound tonight...

RHP Sebastian Vader will get the start tonight looking to help Aberdeen avoid the sweep. His last start came against these same Vermont Lake Monsters. He had a strong game, with four of the five runs he gave up being unearned in six innings of work. LHP Jose Torres will be on the mound for Vermont, making his third start of the season. His last outing came against Auburn where he gave up just one run in four innings of work. He gave up three hits and whiffed six. He has pitched to

a solid 2.28 ERA this season and held hitters to just a .229 average against.
