Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB - Acting CEO of the Winnipeg Football Club, Wade Miller, today announced that Kyle Walters has been named Acting General Manager of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
"Kyle knows our football team inside and out and is the right man to serve as our Acting General Manager," said Miller. "I have every confidence that he will play a major role in helping us get a consistently competitive product back on the field."
Walters was named the team's Assistant General Manager and Director of Canadian Scouting earlier this year after spending three seasons as a member of the coaching staff. He has been responsible for scouting at the CIS level and also assisted the football operations department in managing the team's salary cap, negotiating contracts and player recruitment.
"I want to thank Wade for the opportunity to manage this football team as we look to get it back on track," said Walters. "In a collaborative fashion, I look forward to making the kind of changes that will position this organization for both the present and the future."
Prior to entering the CFL as a coach, Walters spent four seasons as head coach of the University of Guelph Gryphons of the CIS. He was a second round draft pick of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in 1996 and won a Grey Cup with the team in 1999.
