Kraken Add Gustav Olofsson on Two-Way Deal
August 25, 2021 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Charlotte Checkers News Release
The Seattle Kraken continue to stock their roster, signing defenseman Gustav Olofsson to a one-year, two-way contract.
Olofsson, 26, has extensive AHL experience, posting 71 points (11g, 60a) in 203 games with Iowa and Laval and earning an AHL All-Star Game selection in 2015-16. The 6-foot-3 Swede has also appeared in 59 career NHL games with Minnesota and Montreal, picking up 11 assists along the way.
"Gustav is a smart, two-way defenseman," said Kraken General Manager Ron Francis. "We believe his size and willingness to play with physicality matches the style we want to play and are happy he is joining our blue line."
A second-round pick by the Wild in 2013, Olofsson spent one season at Colorado College before turning pro where he recorded eight points (4g, 4a) in 30 games, and logged 66 games with Green Bay in the USHL before that. He also helped lead his native Sweden to a silver medal at the 2014 World Junior Championship, leading all tournament blue liners in assists.
