Charlotte Knights News Release
Starting with a thrilling post-game fireworks show on Saturday, June 29th, and headlined by the largest fireworks display in the Southeast on Wednesday, July 3rd, the upcoming five-game homestand at Knights Stadium is set to give fans a real bang for their buck.
The Charlotte Knights return home to Knights Stadium on Saturday, June 29th and will start a four-game series with the Buffalo Bisons (Triple-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) on Military Appreciation Night. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for Saturday's 7:15 p.m. first pitch and the game will feature Knights LHP Charlie Leesman against Buffalo's LHP Ricky Romero, a 2011 American League All-Star.
Saturday's Military Appreciation game, which is presented by Bank of America, OrthoCarolina, and Uncle Bob's Self Storage, will begin with a special swear-in ceremony before the game. The night will also consist of military-themed events and fans are encouraged to come out to show their support. Charlotte Knights players will wear military jerseys and fans can purchase military and camouflage merchandise at the game. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the USO of North Carolina.
As with every Saturday home game, the beautiful KnightinGals - the Charlotte's Knights official Dance Team, will perform for fans during the pre-game. After the game, the Knights will light-up-the-sky with thrilling post-game fireworks, courtesy of BB&T Ballpark and News Talk 1110 WBT.
On Sunday, June 30th, the Knights will continue their series with the Buffalo Bisons and play a matinee game. Gates open at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday with first pitch set for 2:15 p.m. Sunday is always Family Day at the ballpark, thanks to BB&T, and all kids can "Run the Bases" after the game, thanks to Moe's Southwest Grill.
The first 1,000 fans 12 and under will receive a retro Knights Youth Jersey, thanks to Carolinas HealthCare System. The jersey is similar to the one the 1990 Charlotte Knights wore - the inaugural Knights Stadium team. The current Knights also wear the retro-style jersey during all Friday night games this season.
On Monday, July 1st, the Knights and Bisons will play game three of the series with gates back to 6:00 p.m. for the 7:15 p.m. first pitch. Fans can enjoy delicious mouth-watering hot dogs for just $1 thanks to Hebrew National. Earlier this year, My Carolina Town Magazine voted Knights Stadium as having the best hot dog in the area.
On Tuesday, July 2nd, the Knights and Bisons will conclude their four-game series with a 7:15 p.m. game. Gates once again open at 6:00 p.m. and it's Charitable Tuesday, presented by Barton Malow. Tuesday's featured charity is The40Book Project. Their goal is to bring a home library of 40+ books to as many Title I students in the Charlotte area as possible. On Tuesday, fans are encouraged to donate books (used or new) to help as many students as possible.
A day later, America's pastime, fireworks and fun come together for Skyshow 2013, presented by News Talk 1110 WBT and 107.9's The Link. The Knights will welcome the Durham Bulls (Triple-A affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) to Knights Stadium on Wednesday, July 3rd for the annual WBT Skyshow - which features the area's largest fireworks display. It will be the final WBT Skyshow in Knights Stadium history. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday and the Knights and Bulls will battle in a one-game series at 7:15 p.m.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early for the pre-game festivities including live music, food, drinks, an interactive kids area, prizes, and more. After the game, veterans and military personnel will be honored in a patriotic ceremony. After the ceremony, fans will be treated to a spectacular post-game fireworks show. The fireworks show will last approximately 30 minutes.
Tickets for all games this season are on sale now and can be purchased in person at Knights Stadium, by phone at 704-357-8071 ext. 2106, or online at www.charlotteknights.com. Knights Baseball... Tradition Never Ends.
