Knighthawks Trying to Make It Two Straight

After scoring one of their biggest wins of the season, the Rochester Knighthawks return home to battle the Saskatchewan Rush on Saturday, Feb. 17. The 7:30 p.m. contest at Connors & Ferris Field at The Blue Cross Arena will be televised live on CW Rochester.

On Saturday, the Knighthawks host their annual Native American Night, which will feature Fancy Dancers, merchandise and special guests. Prior to the game, the Knighthawks will honor Master Gunnery Sgt. Sean Bomberry for his 26 years of service in the United State Marine Corps.

Scouting the Knighthawks: The Knighthawks are fresh off a 17-10 victory over the Georgia Swarm, which allowed Rochester to finish the weekend with a 1-1 record. Joe Resetarits strung together two of his best performances of the season, posting five goals and seven assists in the pair of games. He led the team with eight points against Georgia, which tied his career high. Rookie Austin Shanks also had a career night, dishing out a personal-best six assists and recording a career-high seven points. Fellow first-year forward Eric Fannell also collected career highs in assists (four) and points (six). In the team's first road win of the season, Cody Jamieson broke out for a season-best four goals. Quinn Powless, who was activated Sunday, tied his career high with two goals. The Knighthawks power play was also a perfect four-for-four.

The Faceoff Wiz: Rookie Jake Withers still leads the NLL in faceoff winning percentage with a .667 mark. The former second overall pick has a team-leading 72 loose balls, which is tied for fourth in the league.

The Legend of Graeme Hossack: In his last three games, Graeme Hossack has recorded three goals, two assists and 28 loose balls, while causing four turnovers.

Olympic Rewind: Knighthawks assistant coach Pat O'Toole's sister-in-law is two-time Olympic women's hockey gold medalist Cheryl Pounder, who played for Team Canada in the 2002 and 2006 Winter Games.

Milestone Alert:

Jake Withers needs to win just 11 more draws to move past Mac Allen (124) for 10th place on the team's all-time faceoff wins list.

Cory Vitarelli needs five goals to pass Scott Evans for fifth on the team's all-time goal-scoring list.

Dan Dawson (132) is three goals away from passing Curt Malawsky for 10th on the team's all-time goal-scoring list.

Dawson is three points away from 1,300 in his career; he also needs six assists to reach 300 as a Knighthawk.

Scouting the Rush: Saskatchewan leads the West Division with a league-high 8-1 record and an NLL-best 6-0 road record. Saskatchewan is also riding a four-game winning streak. The Rush are tops in goals (139) and power-play efficiency (69.23). Robert Church is second in the NLL with 55 points, while Ben McIntosh leads the league with 25 goals. Mark Matthews is the NLL leader with 36 assists and is third with 53 points.

Next Game: The Knighthawks will travel to play the Buffalo Bandits on Saturday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at KeyBank Center. The game is the third of four games between the two teams.
