Kleber Bismarck's Year in Review
(ALLEN, TEXAS) Dallas Sidekicks defender Kleber Bismark's rookie season with the Dallas Sidekicks and first year playing professional indoor soccer in the United States was quite eventful.
The Dallas Sidekicks identified Bismarck during their recruting trip to Brazil in June of 2019. He was one of just two players signed from the teams international tryouts that took place in both Brazil and Mexico. His talent level quickly distinguished him from other quality players and his professional Futsal experience will allow his game to quickly adapt to the American indoor version of the game. Bismarck has played for many clubs including: Santos futebol clube 2000/2005 Inter de Porto Alegre 2006, Matonense 2007, Saltense 2008, Jabaquara 2009, Cianorte 2010, Bangu 2011, São Vicente 2012/2014, and Futebol 7 (Society) Nacional fut7.
Bismarck had to wait on his visa to be approved prior to coming to the USA and suiting up for the Sidekicks. Once here, he was quickly inserted into the lineup in a "trail by fire" learning experience that help speed his acclamation to the indoor game. "Playing Futsal at such a high level in Brazil helped him tremendously", said Jesse Llamas, Dallas Sidekicks General Manager. "Most player take 3-5 years to adjust to the indoor game when they have focused on outdoor soccer for much of their career. Kleber's background was invaluable to the Sidekicks and allowed us to insert him immediately into the game day squad and his impact was evident right from the start."
Futsal is a fast paced version of the game played on a basketball like court with a small dense soccer ball that promotes quick thinking in tight spaces. It translates well to the MASL as evidenced by Bismarck and other top professional Futsal players who have come into the league.
Bismark played in 12 games for Dallas and scored a goal despite playing exclusively on defense. He has been very involved in the teams off-the-field activities with our charity partners volunteering at food banks, helping clean up the local YMCA and working the Sidekicks summer camps.
"The team was very pleased with Kleber's progress his rookie season and we are excited to see him make an even bigger jump in his game this year," Llamas added about the defender. "He is quiet but well liked and respected by his teammates. He is very coachable and he represents the the club well both on and off the field."
