Kinston's attendance the best in years

August 22, 2006 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Kinston Indians News Release

1,562 fans watched Frederick beat Kinston 4-0 Tuesday night at Grainger Stadium, raising the K-Tribe's season attendance total to 103,442; more total fans than the previous three seasons in Kinston. With five home games remaining, the Kinston Indians are on pace to draw 112,000 fans, the most since the 2001 season.

Kinston's bats were not as impressive as the K-Tribe stranded nine men on base. The lone offensive highlight for Kinston was Argenis Reyes going 4 for 4 at the plate with three singles and a double. Frederick got all of the runs they needed in the fourth inning when Nolan Reimold hit a solo home run of Kinston starter Scott Lewis. Lewis (3-3) was the rotten luck loser, going a season high five and two-thirds innings giving up just four hits and one earned run. Craig Anderson (5-1) picked up the win for Frederick, going five and two-thirds innings, giving up six hits while striking out three.

The K-Tribe will send Mariano Gomez to the mound at 7PM on Wednesday for game three of the three game series. The K-Tribe will have an off day on Thursday, before finishing up their regular season home schedule with four games against Potomac this Friday through Monday.
