Kingfish Reel in Three from Atlantic Coast Conference
Kenosha, Wis. - The Kenosha Kingfish have signed three players from the Atlantic Coast Conference to play for the team during the 2018 summer season. Devin Ortiz (Virgina), Jack Weiller (Virginia) plus Pat Rumoro (Louisville) have been added to the roster.
Ortiz is a 6'2" 175 lb. infielder from Nutley, New Jersey. He was named a Rawlings/Perfect Game 2nd Team All-American as a high school senior last season. As a right-handed pitcher, he was 19-3 during his prep career. At the plate he hit .541 with five home runs as a senior. He projects to provide depth at both shortstop and third base for the Kingfish.
Weiller, is a 6'0" 185 lb. junior infielder from Waccabuc, New York. During his prep career he hit .397 and was named to the 2015 ABCA/Rawlings High School All Northeast team. Weiller will see time at first, second and third base this summer.
"Ortiz and Weiller are from a really good program at Virgina," said Kingfish manager Duffy Dyer. "They will both provide depth in our infield this season and produce some runs for us as well."
Pat Rumoro is a 5'10" 190 lb. right-handed hitting junior catcher from Oak Park, Illinois. As a senior in high school, he was named an All-State Selection by the Chicago Tribune. That season he hit .400 with 12 doubles and 41 RBI.
"Rumoro is off to a really good start at the plate for Louisville this season," said Dyer. "I'm looking forward to working with him in Kenosha. I really like how our backstop position is shaping up in 2018."
Opening Day for the Kingfish is May 29th against the 2017 South Division Champion Battle Creek Bombers. The game begins at 6:35 PM at Historic Simmons Field. 2018 marks the fifth season of Kingfish Baseball in Kenosha.
