Richmond, VA - (Thursday, May 29, 2008) - The Richmond Kickers Future of the Premier Development League (PDL) face two opponents this weekend, first traveling to take on the Virginia Legacy tonight, Thursday, May 29th, followed by a match-up with the Hampton Roads Piranhas on Saturday, May 31st. Saturday's match will be the first leg of a doubleheader with the Richmond Kickers pro team who take to the field at 7:00 pm.

The Future (0-3-1, 1 point) head to Williamsburg this evening to take on the Virginia Legacy at 7:00 pm. Both the Future and the Legacy are searching for their first wins of the season as the Legacy are one point ahead of the Future in the Mid-Atlantic Division standings with a record of 0-2-2 and two points. The Legacy recently battled the New Jersey Rangers to a scoreless draw last weekend while the Future suffered a pair of back-to-back road losses in Newark and Ocean City last week. The Future were unable to find the net against the Ironbound Express, dropping a 1-0 decision while midfielder Boris Gatzky recorded Richmond's lone goal during the 3-1 loss to the Barons.

Following tonight's match, the Future return home to host the Hampton Roads Piranhas on Saturday, May 31st at 4:00 pm at the University of Richmond Stadium (just off the Downtown Expressway). The Piranhas currently hold third place in the standings with a 1-3-1 record and four points. Last time out, the Piranhas handed a 3-0 scoreline to the New Jersey Rangers last weekend. Hampton Roads forward Daniel Haywood was responsible for a goal and an assist in the Piranhas lone victory of the season.

The PDL is a blend of recent and current college stars, elite high school players, and savvy veterans producing an environment ideal for development, while allowing players to maintain their collegiate eligibility. The PDL is the highest level of amateur soccer in North America and is considered the first step to the professional ranks. Last year, 63 PDL players were selected in the Major League Soccer Draft including three from the Kickers Future.

Destiny Heads South To Florida

The Richmond Kickers Destiny (W-League) also look to record their first win of the season as they travel south to face the Tampa Bay Hellenic and Bradenton Athletics on Saturday, May 31st and Sunday, June 1st, respectively. The Destiny have yet to score a goal this season and are coming off two tough losses to W-League leaders Charlotte Lady Eagles and Atlanta Silverbacks.

The Destiny have enlisted the help of Chelsea Ladies FC to supplement this weekend's roster. Midfielder/defender Emma Delves and Jess O'Dwyer will travel to Florida this weekend while U-23 England National Team defender Kylie Davies and forward Dunia Susi will arrive early next week. Delves made her Destiny debut last Monday, holding W-League powerhouse Atlanta to just one goal until the 73rd minute.

An under-23 amateur women's league, the W-League provides the most complete women's player pool in the world and is recognized as North America's best women's developmental organization. The W-League offers the best local college and club players the opportunity to play alongside established international players while maintaining their collegiate eligibility.
