Frederick Keys News Release

FREDERICK, MD - The Frederick Keys (59-67/28-29) came from behind twice in a 5-4 victory over the Wilmington Blue Rocks (65-63/26-32) on Wednesday night at Nymeo Field. Chris Clare had two game-tying RBIs in the contest.

Wilmington struck first in the second inning. After Wander Franco led off with a double, Travis Maezes launched a two-run home run off of Cody Sedlock.

The Keys immediately struck back in the bottom of the frame. Randolph Gassaway started things off with a single, and Armando Araiza advanced him to third on a single of his own. Jomar Reyes then brought in Gassaway with a double to left, making it 2-1 Blue Rocks. Chris Clare followed Reyes with a sacrifice fly to score Araiza and tie up the game.

In the third inning, the Keys got their first lead. Glynn Davis hit his second double, and eventually scored on a Gassaway sacrifice fly.

That lead would be erased in the fifth thanks to another home run by the Blue Rocks. Jecksson Flores singled, and Roman Collins launched a two-run blast to give Wilmington a 4-3 lead. Frederick would regain the lead in the sixth. Araiza doubled, and Reyes singled to begin the inning. Clare then roped a ball down the third base line for a double that scored Araiza and tied up the game. Jay Gonzalez hit an infield single to score Reyes and give the Keys a 5-4 lead.

Sedlock pitched five innings while allowing four runs on seven hits. The right-hander walked two and struck out three. Earning the win, Jay Flaa (4-3) pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless baseball, walking two and striking out four. Jefri Hernandez earned his first Keys save, throwing 2.1 innings of perfect baseball and striking out one. The losing pitcher was Jace Vines (3-2), who allowed five runs on nine hits in five innings.
