Kent Fires Eight in Portland's 6-0 Win over Hartford

Portland, Maine - Matt Kent (6-7) fired eight scoreless innings, and Josh Ockimey knocked in four runs, leading the Portland Sea Dogs (40-57) to a 6-0 win over the Hartford Yard Goats (47-49) on Friday night at Hadlock Field.

Kent scattered five hits on one walk and fanned five. He worked his second straight eight-inning start, and the third straight by a starter at Hadlock Field.

Portland has back-to-back shutouts in the series, and their starters have allowed just one earned run in their last 32.0 innings pitched.

Ockimey gave Portland a 3-0 lead with a bases-clearing double in the third inning against losing pitcher Jesus Tinoco (6-8).

In the fourth, Jhon Nunez clubbed a two-run homer into the U.S. Cellular Pavilion to make it 5-0. Ockimey added the final run with a single to score Danny Mars (2-for-3) in the fifth.

Josh Taylor tossed a scoreless ninth and fanned three to wrap-up Portland's third straight win.

The Sea Dogs and Hartford Yard Goats (Rockies affiliate) continue their four-game series on Saturday night with a 6:00 PM start at Hadlock Field. Lefty Kyle Hart (6-6, 4.37) takes on Hartford's RHP Rico Garcia (2-0, 3.32). Saturday night is Fireworks at Hadlock Field with tickets available at seadogs.com or 207-879-9500.
