Kansas City Comets News Release

KANSAS CITY -- Local advertising agency, MBB, is taking the field with one of the most iconic teams in Kansas City history. The Kansas City Comets have selected the Leawood-based marketing and advertising agency to provide creative services and media strategy for their upcoming 2018-2019 season.

From when they first emerged in the early '80s, the Comets were on the cutting edge of game-day entertainment, paving the way for professional soccer in Kansas City. From selling out arenas, to consecutive playoff appearances, the Comets inspired fans everywhere to fall in love with a sport that had not yet taken off in the U.S. With the original branding and design work for the franchise directed by MBB founder John Muller, their logo and promotional creative would go on to be seen as a recognizable fixture in the Kansas City community.

"I've seen what they can do for their clients and I'm confident that they can lend us the right insight and advice to help share Hot Winter Nights with the entire Kansas City community," said Jeff Husted, Director of Marketing & Communications for the Kansas City Comets. "We're all very proud of what we've been able to accomplish over the past eight years, but it's time to take the Comets to the next level. Partnering with MBB is the first step in that process."

Since being re-introduced in 2010, the team has produced seven playoff appearances, two league MVPs, three Central Division Titles and the 2014 MISL Championship. Playing in the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena, the Comets are ready to begin their next phase of Hot Winter Nights with MBB's advertising and marketing support.

"Growing up in Kansas City, I have many fond memories of cheering on the Comets. This is a great opportunity for us to help bring that same excitement from the past to the present year. We're excited for the work, but also to continue John Muller's legacy" said Jim Brown, Partner and CEO of MBB. "The Comets have a long and rich history in Kansas City and we're looking forward to putting a modern twist on the throwback vibe that makes them so special."

To help promote the Comets, MBB will be providing branding counsel, creative development and media strategy and execution.

"We have said since we first came onboard with the Comets that we want to raise the team's profile and show the entire market how great Hot Winter Nights can be," said Colin Weaver, Managing Partner of the Comets. "I'm excited to be working with MBB to accomplish this goal. Their knowledge of the market, coupled with their expertise in the digital marketing world, made working with them an easy choice for us."

The Kansas City Comets have a rich history of indoor soccer in Kansas City and MBB is looking forward to be able to continue a partnership that started over 30 years ago.
