Junior Moreno and Ulises Segura Obtain Green Cards

Loudoun County, VA - D.C. United midfielders Júnior Moreno and Ulises Segura, from Venezuela and Costa Rica, respectively, obtained their Green Cards that grant them permanent residence in the United States. Moreno and Segura will no longer occupy international roster spots for the Black-and-Red.

Moreno joined the Black-and-Red on a permanent transfer from Zulia FC in the Venezuelan first division on Jan. 2, 2018. Since arriving in the nation's capital, Moreno has been a consistent figure in the Black-and-Red midfield, making 49 appearances (46 starts) over two seasons. The 26-year-old has recorded five assists in the MLS Regular Season and led the team in total passes (1,763), passing accuracy (88%) and touches (2,159) in 2019.

Moreno's performances for D.C. United have made him a regular selection in the Venezuelan National Team. The midfielder made his debut against the United States in a 1-1 draw on June 3, 2017. Moreno recorded an assist in the match. Since his debut, Moreno has scored one goal in 20 total appearances for Venezuela. His first goal came in his second appearance in the 1-1 draw against Ecuador on June 9, 2017.

The Black-and-Red acquired Segura on Dec, 1, 2017 and the Costa Rican has been an integral piece of the D.C. United offense since joining the club. The 26-year-old has scored five goals and recorded three assists in 56 appearances (33 starts) since his arrival. He scored his first goal for the club in the 1-0 win against he Columbus Crew on April 4, 2018.

Segura has also been a figure in the Costa Rican National Team since making his debut for his country in the 3-0 win against Belize on Jan. 15, 2017. The versatile midfielder has made nine total appearances for his national team.
