Joe Tomato's Preview - Week 25
March 5, 2019 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Owen Sound Attack News Release
The Owen Sound Attack head into week 25 of the regular season with two more games on the road and an emotional matchup on Saturday night. This is your Joe Tomato's Weekend Preview.
The week begins with a rare midweek road trip, as the Attack head south to meet the Flint Firebirds on Wednesday night at the Dort Federal Event Center. The Firebirds got the better of the Attack last month as they came from behind to steal an overtime win on Tropics night in Flint. Owen Sound is prepared to get their revenge as they look to lock down a playoff seed in the competitive west. Flint is currently last in the conference, but have turned things around after a tough start. Ty Dellandrea and Jake Durham lead the way for a team that can score goals in a hurry.
It's a quick road turnaround for the team as they'll be meeting the Windsor Spitfires on Thursday night at the WFCU Centre. The Spits are currently hanging onto the 8th seed in the Western Conference with the Erie Otters hot on their tail. The Attack lost a narrowly contested game on Family Day the last time these two teams met, with Windsor scoring the deciding goal with less than two minutes remaining. If Owen Sound can shut down the Spitfire's high scoring rookies, Jean-Luc Foudy and Will Cuylle, they'll have a shot at securing a big two points.
The final game of the weekend has been circled on the calendar since early January. The Guelph Storm return to the Bayshore with Nick Suzuki, Markus Phillips, Sean Durzi and Zachary Roberts. Guelph has been on fire since the blockbuster deadline deal, coming into week 25 winners of 7 straight contests. Sean Durzi will be question mark, he's been battling injuries for the 2nd place team in the Midwest Division. Attack fans need no introduction to Nick Suzuki or Markus Phillips, and Owen Sound is going to have to work to keep them off the scoresheet. Barret Kirwin, Zachary Poirier and Mark Woolley will be looking to have big games against their former team this weekend.
After every Attack home game, your ticket stub is good for half priced wings and appetizers at Joe Tomato's in Owen Sound. They've always got something delicious going on.
