Lancaster JetHawks News Release
(SAN BERNARDINO, CA) - Arrowhead Credit Union Park is one of the most difficult places in the California League to hit home runs, but that didn't stop the Lancaster JetHawks Tuesday morning. Three JetHawks players drove the ball out of the ballpark and the pitching held together late as Lancaster defeated Inland Empire 9-5. The road victory is the team's seventh of the season and win number 20 overall.
Lancaster never trailed after opening the scoring in the second inning. The JetHawks loaded the bases on a Lee Cruz double and two walks. David Flores drove in Cruz with a single and Lancaster led 1-0. That lead extended in the third inning when Cruz singled in a run and Parejo launched a two-run homer.
The teams traded runs in the middle of the game. The 66ers scored three runs off JetHawks starter Kyle Greenwalt, but got two back on a home run by Flores and a RBI single by Albert Cartwright. However, three JetHawks relievers struggled, allowing Inland Empire to get back to within one heading into the eighth inning.
Leading just 6-5, Lancaster reasserted control of the game. They scored twice in the eighth, using a 66ers error and a run-scoring double from John Curtis. Brandon Barnes padded the lead with his team-best 12th home run of the season in the ninth inning to finish the scoring.
Greenwalt earned his first win since April, improving to 2-5. Kyle Godfrey restored order out of the bullpen with a scoreless inning and third while David Berner closed out the game with a scoreless inning.
The JetHawks will try to win the series tomorrow night in San Bernadino. The JetHawks will send Ross Seaton (2-8) to the mound against the 66ers Nate Eovaldi (1-3). The game begins at 7:05 PM. The game will be broadcast starting with the Clubhouse Show at 5 PM on CSN@JetHawks.com. The Pre-Game Show will begin at 7 PM on CSN as well as NewsTalk 1380.
