Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(STOCKTON, CA) - Andrew Robinson led the Lancaster pitching staff to a piece of history Saturday night in Stockton. Robinson struck out a career-high 12 batters, combining with relievers Kyle Greenwalt and Patrick Urckfitz to fan 17 Ports in a 3-0 shutout win. The strikeout total matches a Lancaster franchise record.

The record was originally set August 8, 1997 when starter Jason Bond struck out 14 in a game at Visalia.

Coming off his toughest start of the year, Robinson turned in his best. The right-hander took a perfect game into the fourth inning and a no-hitter into the fifth. He matched and set his season-high for strikeouts in just the fourth inning and tied his career-best then set the personal record in the fifth. Robinson struck out the final batter he faced before reaching his allotted pitch count in the seventh inning.

By then Lancaster had used a pair of home runs to build a 3-0 lead. Jonathan Singleton followed an Austin Wates single by launching a ball for a two-run homer in the fourth inning. It was Singleton's second home run of the series. Jio Mier added to the lead with a solo shot to left field in the fifth inning.

Relievers Greenwalt and Urckfitz each followed Robinson's effort with a scoreless inning and a third. Greenwalt struck out three batters while Urckfitz fanned two, including the record tying strikeout that ended the game.

The JetHawks will be going for their first four-game win streak of the season Sunday night in Stockton. Zach Grimmett (4-11) will start for Lancaster against A.J. Griffin (4-3) of the Ports. The game starts at 6:05 and will be broadcast live on radio by 87.7 Kickin' Country and online at CSN at JetHawks.com (click the listen live link). The Pre-Game Show starts at 5:50.

The JetHawks return home Tuesday, August 30 to open the final homestand of the season, featuring seven games against the Visalia Rawhide and the Lake Elsinore Storm. For tickets and other information, call (661) 726-5400 or visit JetHawks.com.
