Bowling Green, KY - On Monday, Hot Rods outfielder Jesus Sanchez was named the Midwest League Player for the week of June 5 - 11.
On the heels of being one of five Hot Rods players named to the 2017 Midwest League Eastern Division All-Star team, Sanchez slashed an astonishing .522/.520/826 in six games during the week.
Sanchez went 6-for-14 at the plate during a three-game series in South Bend and has six hits in the last two games at Classic Park against the Lake County Captains.
Overall, he has five straight multi-hit games and was 12-for-23 at the plate with two homers, seven runs batted in and seven runs scored over the week.
As the Tampa Bay Rays #7 prospect per MLB.com, Sanchez is hitting .298 with 9 homers and 41 runs batted in this season.
The 19-year-old ranks second in the league in RBI and leads the Hot Rods in hits, homers, runs scored and triples.
He is the first Hot Rods player to be named Midwest League Player of the Week since Brett Sullivan earned the honor on June 13 - 19 last season.
Sanchez and the Hot Rods will finish a two-week stretch on the road on Monday the finale of a long weekend series against the Lake County Captains.
First pitch is at 7:00 PM eastern time at Classic Park.
