
Jaxx Drop Third Straight Monday Night

JACKSON, TN. (April 19, 2010) - The Diamond Jaxx (4-7) dropped their third straight game on Monday night at Pringles Park to Huntsville (7-4), 9-2. The opener to the Stars snowballed in a hurry as the Stars out-hit the Jaxx 15-6. The Jaxx committed four errors in the game and was 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.
The only Jaxx multi-hit game came from Alex Liddi who finished 2-for-3 with a double. The top five in the Stars order were a combined 13-for-24 with eight RBI. Lorenzo Cain, Brett Lawrie, Caleb Gindl, Jonathan Lucroy and Taylor Green all collected multi-hit games for the Stars.
Huntsville Stars starter, Amaury Rivas (2-0) gets the win after firing a gem of a game on Monday night against the Jaxx. Rivas dealt six innings and allowed just one run on two hits. Jaxx Dan Cortes (0-1) takes the loss in his third start of the year. Cortes gave up four runs in just 3.1 innings on the mound. He walked three and fanned three.
The Stars opened the scoring in the top of the third inning with a pair of runs. Jonathan Lucroy drove in Lorenzo Cain for the Stars first run of the game. Taylor Green smacked an RBI double to the right-center gap plating Caleb Gindl giving the Stars a 2-0 edge.
Huntsville added to their lead with a couple of runs in the top half of the fourth inning. Caleb Gindle brought home Lee Haydel and Lorenzo Cain with a two out single pushing the Stars lead to 4-0.
The Jaxx finally dented the scoreboard in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Alex Liddi at the plate Carlos Peguero scored from third on a wild pitch by Stars pitcher Amaury Rivas. The Jaxx trailed 4-1 after four innings.
Huntsville scored another run in the top of the sixth inning with two outs on an RBI single by Caleb Gindl. The RBI for Gindl was his third of the game and league leading 11th of the season.
The Stars went on to score a run in the eighth inning and two in the ninth inning. The Jaxx added their second and final run on an RBI groundout in the bottom of the ninth inning by Kuo Hui Lo.
The Diamond Jaxx and Stars will play game two of the five game set on Tuesday night at 7:05. RHP Luis Munoz (0-0, 0.00) will make the start for the Diamond Jaxx and RHP Alex Periard (0-2, 5.40) will go for the Stars. Kids and Seniors eat free with paid admission on Tuesday night.
