
Jackson Wins Fourth Straight, Move Into First Place Tie

JACKSON, TENN. (May 16, 2011 - The Jackson Generals matched a season best winning streak at four Monday, with a 5-2 win over Huntsville. The fourth win in a row puts the Generals in a first place tie, atop the Southern League North Division, with the Tennessee Smokies. Jackson takes the series by winning the first three against the Stars.
Nate Tenbrink was a triple shy of a cycle Monday, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, homer and two RBI's. Jake Shaffer notched his 17th multi-hit game, and was 2-for-4, with a triple and RBI. Johermyn Chavez collected two hits and was 2-for-4, with a run scored.
Shawn Kelley tossed a scoreless first inning, striking out one and allowing a hit in his first rehab stint from Seattle. Andrew Carraway (1-0) got the win for Jackson, pitching six innings, allowing one run on four hits. Michael Bowman (1-1) took the loss for Huntsville, giving up three runs in five innings.
The Generals scored first and got two runs in the bottom of the third. Shaffer tripled home Carlos Triunfel from first and then Kyle Seager brought Shaffer in with a sacrifice fly. The Generals went ahead 2-0.
After Huntsville scored in the top of the first, Nate Tenbrink pushed the Generals lead back to two runs with his second homer of the season. The Generals led 3-1 after the first four innings.
The Generals upped their lead to 5-1 by scoring two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Tenbrink recorded his third hit with an RBI double in the sixth and he scored after a hit by Triunfel and error was committed by Huntsville shortstop Hainley Statia. Huntsville scored on an RBI single from Brandon Jones in the ninth, but fell 5-2.
The Generals and Huntsville play game four of the five-game series Tuesday night at Pringles Park, with first pitch at 7:05. LHP Anthony Vasquez (2-3, 3.59) takes the mound for the Generals, against RHP Jesus Sanchez (2-3, 4.37) for the Stars. The game can be heard on NewsTalk 101.5 FM and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
