Jackalopes Tender Forward Cole Burtch
ODESSA, TX - The Odessa Jackalopes are proud to announce they have tendered forward Cole Burtch for the 2020-21 season.
"Cole's a highly competitive player," said Jackalopes Head Coach Jason Fortier. "Diminutive in size but he has a big heart. He's extremely competitive and scrappy, he's a quick player with good offensive instincts and IQ."
Burtch, a native of Markham, Ontario, stands at 5-10, 161 lbs and is a left-handed shot. Burtch comes to the Jackalopes after two successful seasons with the Toronto Patriots of the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL). In his first season, Burtch garnered 21 points (10 goals, 16 assists) in 38 regular season and playoff games.
This past season though could be described as Burtch's breakout year as he netted a total of 65 points (28 goals, 37 assists) in the regular season and playoffs to lead the Patriots in scoring for the 2019-20 campaign. Burtch also ranked 17th in OJHL scoring during the regular season.
"It's great to have a player like Cole come to Odessa from Canada," said Jackalopes Assistant Coach Adam Phillips. "His production last season is impressive and we look to see a smooth transition into the NAHL."
A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, plus or minus any trades, which become active on Nov. 1. Tendered players are not eligible for the NAHL draft. (Information provided by NAHL.com)
