Edmonton Elks News Release

(Edmonton) Eskimo K/P Noel Prefontaine has re-signed with the Eskimos, the club announced today. In keeping with club policy, terms of the agreement will not be released.

'Pre' is glad to be back in green and gold. "It seems like a no-brainer to me. The Eskimos have welcomed me with open arms since I was traded here. I look forward to spending the next few seasons with the team and to help them win a Grey Cup."

Eskimo Head Coach and Director of Football Operations Danny Maciocia says, "Pre has been a big asset to our locker room. He's a proven veteran and one of the CFL's best kickers. He handles both kicking and punting duties exceptionally well."

In his first year with the Esks, Prefontaine played in 17 games. He had 103 punts for 4,831 yards (46.9 average) and 77 kickoffs for 4,636 yards (60.2 avg). He was 35 for 46 on field goals (avg 26.4); his longest was a 54-yarder in first game of the season. On October 4 vs. Winnipeg, Pre orchestrated a successful fake punt when he threw a 19-yard pass to McCarty, which led to an Eskimo touchdown. In the East Semi-Final he was two of four on field goals. He punted 11 times for 463 yards and had five kickoffs for 263 yards (52.6 avg). In the East Final he was two for two on field goals. He punted eight times for 402 yards and four kickoffs for 198 yards (49.5 avg).

A 10-year CFL vet, Prefontaine was traded to the Eskimos on May 31, 2008 from Toronto in exchange for Edmonton's first round selection in the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft and a conditional pick in the 2010 CFL Canadian Draft.
