Oklahoma City Baseball Club News Release

Albuquerque, N.M. - Three Albuquerque Isotopes (14-11) pitchers combined to throw an eight-hit shutout as the Oklahoma City RedHawks (16-9) fell 5-0 Monday night before 6,972 at Isotopes Park.

Starting pitcher John Ely (2-2) went the first 6.1 innings, holding the RedHawks scoreless despite giving up eight hits. He set a new season high with eight strikeouts and did not issue a walk in a 98-pitch effort.

Wil Ledezma went the next 1.2 frames, and Shane Lindsay finished the Isotopes' first shutout in 2012 with a scoreless ninth.

The RedHawks certainly had their chances throughout the night, but they went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position. The RedHawks twice got a leadoff double but could not take advantage and score. It marked the second time they were shutout this season, with the other coming in a 2-0 loss April 16 in Memphis.

Making his Triple-A debut, RedHawks pitcher Brett Oberholtzer retired 10 of the first 11 Albuquerque hitters and faced one over the minimum through four innings.

The Isotopes broke the scoreless deadlock in the fifth. After back-to-back singles by Jeff Baisley and Jerry Sands, Josh Bard knocked in a run on a fielder's choice to make it 1-0.

Albuquerque struck again in the sixth. The Isotopes loaded the bases with none out, and two batters later, Baisley delivered a two-run single give Albuquerque a 3-0 lead.

That spelled the end for Oberholtzer (0-1), and shortly after his exit, Bard hit a sac fly to make it 4-0. The lefty allowed four runs and seven hits with one walk and three strikeouts over 5.1 innings.

It stayed 4-0 until Matt Angle finished the scoring with an RBI single in the eighth.

The RedHawks will look to capture their first win on the road trip when they face the Isotopes at 7:35 p.m. central time in Albuquerque. Live coverage starts at 7:05 p.m. with "RedHawks on Deck" on 1340 AM The Game, 1340thegame.com, or through the free IHeartRadio mobile app.
