The Charlottetown Islanders gave up an early 3-0 lead on Saturday in Moncton and ended up in overtime for the second straight game, where they fell 5-4.

Vaclav Karabacek scored for the Wildcats with 18 seconds left in OT.

The Islanders got out to an early 3-0 lead, with Nicolas Leblond kicking off the scoring at the four-minute mark by slipping the puck through the five-hole of Blade Mann-Dixon.

68 seconds later, with the Isles on the power play, Oliver Cooper stuffed home a rebound from the front of the net to double the Islanders' lead, and a few minutes later Filip Rydstrom made it 3-0 by stealing the puck in the neutral zone and sniping it into the net, ending the night for Mann-Dixon.

At the 12:42 mark, Jacob Sweeney gave the Wildcats some momentum by getting them on the board, and they made it 3-2 a few minutes later with a shot from Kevin Klima.

In the final minute of the first, Conor Garland tied it up, getting the puck through the pads of Welsh.

After a scoreless second period, Cooper put the Isles back ahead in the third with another rebound from the front of the net on the power play at 5:52.

The Isles tried to hold on but the Wildcats came on strong late in the game and after several chances, Zack MacEwen managed to get the puck past Welsh to make it a tie game.

Despite a late power play chance for Moncton, the game went to overtime, where the teams exchanged chances until Karabacek beat Welsh late in the extra frame.

Welsh made 33 saves in the Isles net.

The Islanders wrap up a 3-in-3 and return to the Eastlink Centre on Sunday to take on the Halifax Mooseheads.
