
Iowa roster undergoes changes

DES MOINES, IA - Iowa Stars Director of Hockey Operations Scott White announced Monday morning that the Dallas Stars have loaned Center Joel Lundqvist, Forward Krys Barch and Defenseman Nicklas Grossman back to the Iowa Stars. White also announced that Iowa has released Center Jamie Johnson from his Professional Tryout Contract (PTO).
A native of Are, Sweden, Lundqvist is in his first professional season in North America. After making his NHL debut in early December, he has appeared in nine games for the NHL's Dallas Stars. The 24-year-old notched his first NHL point, a goal, against Miikka Kiprusoff and the Calgary Flames on January 17th. Playing in 36 games with Iowa, he leads the team with 36 points, including a team-high 21 assists: 36(15/21/36).
Recalled on January 14th, Barch made his NHL debut on January 15th against the Los Angeles Kings. The six-year professional has skated in 30 games for Iowa this season, posting three goals and five assists: 30(3/5/8). He currently leads Iowa with 110 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 215-pound Hamilton, Ontario native was signed by Dallas as a Free Agent on July 18th, 2006.
The 21-year-old Grossman has played in four games with Dallas this season, recording four penalty minutes. The Stockholm, Sweden native has two goals and six assists in 36 games with Iowa this season and has a team-high 'plus 10' rating: 36(2/6/8)+10. He made his NHL debut against the Minnesota Wild on December 2nd.
Johnson played in eight games for Iowa after being singed to a PTO on January 2nd. The Port Franks, Ontario native posted one goal, three assists and was 'minus 10' in those eight games: 8(1/3/4)-10. He joined Iowa after playing 26 games with the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL this season. In those 26 games, he has notched 12 goals and 23 assists: 26(12/23/35). The 5-11, 185-pound forward appeared in 68 games for the Iowa Stars last season, posting nine goals and 28 assists: 68(9/28/37). He was born on January 23rd, 1982.
