Hunter Greene Headlines List of 21 Additional Names on Dragons Alumni Team
The Dragons today announced 21 additional players who are expected to appear at the Celebration Game on March 30. Previously, five names were announced: outfielder Taylor Trammell, third baseman Jonathan India, catcher Tyler Stephenson, catcher Chris Okey, and outfielder T.J. Friedl.
Hunter Greene and Tony Santillan, the consensus top two pitching prospects in the Reds farm system, were announced today among the list of additional players. On most prospect lists released by media outlets this winter, Greene, Trammell, India, Santillan, and Stephenson all rank among the top six prospects in the Reds system.
Additional players added today include catcher Hendrik Clementina; outfielders Narciso Crook, Stuart Fairchild, Michael Beltre, and Aristides Aquino; infielders Gavin LaValley, Bruce Yari, Brantley Bell, John Sansone, and Luis Gonzalez; and pitchers Scott Moss, Aaron Fossas, Ryan Hendrix, Wyatt Strahan, Wennington Romero, Packy Naughton, John Ghyzel, Ryan Nutof, and Cory Thompson.
The full list of 26 players includes three Reds first round draft picks (India, Greene, and Stephenson), one supplemental first round pick (Trammell), and three second round picks (Fairchild, Okey, and Santillan). Among the 26 players are the Reds 2018 Minor League Hitter of the Year (Friedl), the Most Valuable Player of the 2018 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game (Trammell), two 2018 Midwest League Full-Season All-Stars (Clementina and Ghyzel), the Reds organizational leader in victories in 2018 (Moss) and the Dragons all-time career leader in games played (Gonzalez). The list also includes numerous popular, multiple year Dragons such as Crook, Bell, Sansone, and Beltre.
Eleven (11) players on the list played in their league's all-star game in 2018. They included Clementina, Fairchild, Ghyzel, and Thompson with the Dragons; Trammell, Santillan, Stephenson, Friedl, Hendrix, and Bell with Advanced-A Daytona; and Aquino with Double-A Pensacola.
Aquino, Crook, Gonzalez, LaValley, and Strahan were members of the 2015 Dragons. Bell and Okey were with the 2016 Dragons. Beltre, Friedl, Trammell, Stephenson, Sansone, Yari, Santillan, Moss, Hendrix, Fossas, and Romero were all key members of the Dragons playoff team in 2017. Greene, India, Clementina, Fairchild, Naughton, Ghyzel, Nutof, and Thompson were all with the 2018 Dragons (all players listed by year of their most prominent season with the Dragons).
Additional players could be added prior to the game on March 30 based on availability.
