Idaho Steelheads Add Rookie Defenseman Scott Dornbrock

September 11, 2018 - ECHL (ECHL) - Idaho Steelheads News Release

Boise, ID - Steelheads Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Neil Graham announced on Tuesday that the Idaho Steelheads have agreed to terms with rookie defenseman Scott Dornbrock on an ECHL contract for the 2018-19 season.

"Scott is a big defenseman who skates well and has a lot of tools that will make him successful as a professional." said Graham.

Dornbrock, 24, begins his pro career after four seasons of NCAA Division I hockey at Miami University in Ohio. With the Redhawks, Dornbrock tallied a goal and eight points in 33 games last season.

The Harper Woods, Michigan native appeared in 139 NCAA games from 2014 to 2018, totaling six goals, 35 points, and 98 penalty minutes. His best offensive season came in 2016-17, when he recorded three goals and 13 points as a junior.

"I'm very excited to be joining the Steelheads and to be joining such a great culture." said Dornbrock. "I think my ability to play tough defense and move the puck quickly out of the defensive zone while joining the rush can help the team's success. I can't wait to get on the ice and get things rolling."

A 6-foot-3 defenseman, Dornbrock was a member of Miami's NCHC Conference Championship team in 2015.

Prior to college, Dornbrock played three seasons of junior hockey, one with the USHL's Omaha Lancers and two split between the NAHL's Topeka Roadrunners and Minot Minotauros.
