IceDogs' Prospects Excel at OHL Gold Cup

ST. CATHARINES, ON - This past weekend, the IceDogs were well represented by recent draft picks at the OHL Gold Cup. The following seven picks from the 2018 OHL Draft represented their respective leagues in Kitchener at the OHL Gold Cup:
1, 12 - Lleyton Moore (GTHL Blue)
3, 32 - Stephen Halliday (GTHL Blue)
4, 72 - Jake Uberti (GTHL Blue)
5, 92 - Ethan Sims (OMHA White)
7, 132 - Cameron Snow (OMHA White)
8, 152 - Jacob Vreugdenhil (OMHA Black)
14, 272 - A.J. Favot (NOHA)
Favot, a defenceman from Sudbury, played two games for team NOHA in the tournament. After his team won 2 games and lost 2 games, they found themselves in the Consolation Gold game Sunday morning. Favot and NOHA were awarded Consolation Gold following a 4-3 win in their final game of the tournament.
Sims and Snow both represented OMHA White in the tournament. Sims, a centreman who played locally for the Niagara North Stars and St. Catharines Falcons this season, finished the tournament with 1 goal. Snow, a centreman who played with the Barrie Colts Minor Midget AAA last season, finished the tournament with 2 goals, and was named the OMHA White Player of the Game in the Bronze Game, which they dropped to OMHA Black.
Vreugdenhil, a centreman who played with the Quinte Red Devils Minor Midget AAA last season, represented OMHA Black. The forward finished the tournament with 1 goal, and 3 assists. Vreugdenhill's OMHA Black captured the Bronze with a 7-3 win over OMHA White.
The IceDogs were most represented on GTHL's team Blue, by first-round pick, Lleyton Moore, Stephen Halliday, and Jake Uberti. Moore, an impressive offensive defenceman finished the tournament with 1 goal, and 4 assists, including 2 two-point games. Halliday, a third-round pick of the OHL Draft, got off to a slow start in the tournament, but had a 3-point performance in the final game, finishing with 1 goal and 3 assists over the course of the weekend. Halliday was named the player of the final game against GTHL team Red. Jake Uberti, a fourth-round pick, led Team Blue, and the tournament, with 9 points (4 goals, 5 assists), and collected player of the game recognition on Saturday. Team Blue defeated Team Red 8-2 to be crowned OHL Gold Cup Champions.
