IceDogs Fall 2-0 to Spitfires to End Weekend Road Trip

February 11, 2018 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL) - Niagara IceDogs News Release

Your Niagara IceDogs were on the road Sunday afternoon to play this Spitfires for the first time this season. The 'Dogs came into this game after nearly completing the comeback last night in Sarnia. The Spitfires entered this game coming off their first win in 6 tries.

The IceDogs and Spitfires were scoreless after 40 minutes of play. Both teams spent much of the first half of the game feeling each other out, which commonly happens between teams that don't often face each other. Nearing the midway point in the game, both teams picked up the physical play. Amidst the physicality, the 'Dogs started to pressure Michael DiPietro, but he continued to stand tall and keep the game at a scoreless draw. That's not to say Stephen Dhillon hasn't had a great game. He came through with timely saves when needed.

Halfway through the third period, the Spitfires got on the board, beating Dhillon stick side. The Spitfires added an empty net goal on a late powerplay. The 2-0 score held as the 'Dogs fell to Windsor.

The 'Dogs return to action on Friday, when the Owen Sound Attack make their only trip of the season to the Meridian Centre.
