IceDogs Battle Hard in 7-1 Loss to 2nd Place Wolves

February 16, 2020 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Niagara IceDogs News Release

In a matinee matchup, the IceDogs took on the Sudbury Wolves in front of a loud Meridian Centre crowd.

The Sudbury Wolves came in with the momentum that coincides with a three game win streak. Goaltender Andrew MacLean made a remarkable 8 saves, including him diving to stop the puck on the goal line and a well-position breakaway save, before the Wolves buried 2 quick ones at 5:15 and 5:40 into the game.

The IceDogs answered back with a remarkable four minute penalty kill. Jackson Doherty picked off a Wolves neutral ice pass and skated down the ice to get a short handed chance on net. Shortly after, Bruder, Howard, Enright, and Lodnia killed off the rest of the penalty by making multiple blocked shots and keeping the Wolves to the outside to keep the score 2-0.

The second period saw the Wolves extend their lead to 4-0. The IceDogs generated their best scoring chances of the middle frame in the last five minutes with extended pressure in the Wolves defensive end.

In the third period, Doherty's tremendous effort throughout the game paid off as he scored his fourth on the season. Ryan Campbell picked up the lone assist.

The Wolves scored three more to take the game with a score of 7-1. Cameron Snow showed a lot of jump in his step, recording 3 shots on net and was 50% in the dot. Captain Lodnia lead by example and was 67% in the dot and had 4 shots on net.
